read bible daily

Our Sermon Series is exploring our mission to “Seek answers to our questions.” In preparation for this week, we’re reading Luke 11:27-36 to learn how to seek and recognize the justice Jesus calls us to live.

Find the daily readings below along with questions for reflection. Join (or begin!) the discussion in the comments. We’d love to hear from you about how reading the Bible daily is bringing you closer to God and one another.

You also may be interested in joining a small group that focuses on exploring the scripture for the following Sunday’s sermon or learning how to approach Bible study in general – or a variety of other opportunities to “seek answers to our questions” as part of a group. Check it out here!

  1. I’ve been reading “The Anatomy of Peace” from the Arbinger Institute this week, and it’s interesting to me to see some of the connections between the light and darkness within one’s self and how that plays into the idea of having a “heart of war” or “heart of peace.” As we consider seeking justice, I wonder in what ways the “eye of light” mentioned in the passage also plays into how we perceive others? Do we see people as obstacles or means to an end, or people with hopes, cares and dreams?

    • I agree that having the light of Jesus in us illuminates all of the people and the things of earth, such as our environment, with a new understanding. We can have “eyes of love” if we are filled with the light God sends.

  2. October 27 – I feel that obeying God’s word gives me the direction I need and peace in my life. The world is filled with so many mixed and negative messages that by obeying God’s word my life gives blessing to God and others.

  3. October 31 – The hope I see each day is in our young people. They are standing up and letting their voices be heard.
