Surf’s Up at SPUMC!
Last week the Sanctuary became a beachside Surf Shack as Vacation Bible School 2016 launched in full force!
Children and grown-ups alike filled the building so they could get the chance to catch the wave of God’s amazing love! Surf Shack 2016 considered Bible stories where God’s love and power was displayed on or near water, like keeping the baby Moses safe by floating on the Nile River or Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee when his disciples found themselves in the midst of a storm.
Surfers (the children) followed Lifeguards (adult leaders) to Centers where Surf Coaches (more adults) led Crafts, demonstrated Science experiments, told Stories, and played games. Surfers learned pop-up memory verses and reflected on ways God still cares and calms today!
Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who helped lead a center, a group of children, or made food for dinner for kids and their families. Surf Shack 2016 was a great success!
