Traditional Worship

Call to Worship
Refrain: God calls us to Love, Seek, and Serve.

Opening Hymn
“Come, Christians, Join to Sing”

1 Come, Christians, join to sing
Alleluia! Amen!
loud praise to Christ we bring;
Alleluia! Amen!
let all, with heart and voice,
before his throne rejoice;
praise is his gracious choice.
Alleluia! Amen!

2 Come, lift your hearts on high,
Alleluia! Amen!
let praises fill the sky;
Alleluia! Amen!
Christ is our guide and friend
on whom we can depend:
his love shall never end.
Alleluia! Amen!

3 Praise yet our Christ again,
Alleluia! Amen!
life shall not end the strain;
Alleluia! Amen!
on heaven’s blissful shore,
his goodness we’ll adore,
singing forevermore,
Alleluia! Amen!

Affirmation of Faith
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gloria Patri
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be world without end. Amen.

Doxology
O bless the gifts our hands have brought
And bless the work our hearts have planned.
Ours is the faith, the will, the thought.
The rest, O God, is in your hand.

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Closing Hymn
“Softly and Tenderly”

1 Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
calling for you and for me;
see, on the portals he’s waiting and watching,
watching for you and for me.

Refrain:
Come home, come home;
you who are weary come home;
earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
calling, O sinner, come home!

2 Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies,
mercies for you and for me? [Refrain]

3 Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
passing from you and from me;
shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
coming for you and for me. [Refrain]

4 O for the wonderful love he has promised,
promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, he has mercy and pardon,
pardon for you and for me. [Refrain]

CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP

Song
“Write Your Story

Ben Glover, David Garcia, and Francesca Battistelli

They say

You’re the King of everything

The one who taught the wind to sing

The source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating

And they say

You can give the blind their sight

And you can bring the dead to life

You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’

I wanna tell you now that I believe it

I wanna tell you now that I believe it

I do, that you can make me new, oh

I’m an empty page

I’m an open book

Write your story on my heart

Come on and make your mark

Author of my hope

Maker of the stars

Let me be your work of art

Won’t you write your story on my heart

Write your story, write your story

Come on and write your story, write your story

Won’t you write your story on my heart

My life

I know it’s never really been mine

So do with it whatever you like

I don’t know what your plan is

But I know it’s good, yeah

I wanna tell you now that I believe in

I wanna tell you now that I believe in

In you, so do what you do, oh

I’m an empty page

I’m an open book

Write your story on my heart

Come on and make your mark

Author of my hope

Maker of the stars

Let me be your work of art

Won’t you write your story on my heart

Write your story, write your story

Come on and write your story, write your story

Won’t you write your story on my heart

I want my history to be your legacy

Go ahead and show this world

What you’ve done in me

And when the music fades

I want my life to say, ay yeah

I let you write your story, write your story

Write your story, write your story

I’m an empty page

I’m an open book

Write your story on my heart

Come on and make your mark

Author of my hope

Maker of the stars

Let me be your work of art

Won’t you write your story on my heart

Response to the Word
“For the One”
Jenn Johnson, Paul McClure

Let me be filled with kindness, and compassion for the one

The one in whom You love and gave Your Son

For humanity

Increase my love

Help me to love with open arms like You do

A love that erases all the lines and sees the truth

Oh that when they look in my eyes they would see You

Even in just a smile, they would feel the Father’s love

‘Cause oh how You love us

From the homeless to the famous and in between

‘Cause You formed us, You made us carefully

‘Cause in the end we’re all your children

So help me to love with open arms like You do

A love that erases all the lines and sees the truth

Oh that when they look in my eyes they would see You

Even in just a smile they would feel the Father’s love

So let all my life tell of who You are

And the wonder of Your neverending love

Oh, let all my life tell of who You are

That You’re wonderful and such a good Father

Oh, let all my life tell of who You are

And the wonder of Your neverending love

Oh, let all my life tell of who You are

That You’re wonderful and such a good Father

Oh, You are wonderful and such a good Father

So help me to love with open arms like You do

A love that erases all the lines and sees the truth

Oh that when they look in my eyes they would see You

Even in just a smile they would feel the Father’s love

Even in just a smile they would feel the Father’s love

Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver use rom evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Song
“Marvelous Light”
Ellie Holcomb, Rusty Varenkamp

I am not who I once was, defined by all the things I’ve done

Afraid my shame would be exposed, afraid of really being known

But then you gave my heart a home

(Chorus) So I walked out of the darkness and into the light

From fear of shame into the hope of life

Mercy called my name and made a way to fly

Out of the darkness and into the light

With years of keeping secrets safe, wondering if I could change

‘Cause when you’re hiding all alone, your heart can turn into a stone

And that’s not the way I want to go

(Chorus)

There’s no place I would rather be

Your light is Marvelous, Your light is Marvelous

You have come to set us free

You are Marvelous, Your light is Marvelous

(Chorus)
