It’s that time of year again. Folks are talking about filling out their brackets. We moved our clocks ahead one hour. People are travelling to get in one last ski trip…or find a beach with wonderful warm sun. And eager tulips are waking up from a long winter’s nap.

Spring is almost here! Bringing with it a renewed sense of energy and activity. Here at the church, I feel a similar renewal taking place. Over 100 of you are participating in a small group and reading The Good and Beautiful God together. I’m part of two groups: one meets Wednesday afternoon; the other Wednesday evening. With both groups, I have felt privileged to participate in conversations of deep insight and sharing where everyone is engaging the book with a great spirit. From the feedback I’ve gotten from my groups and the leaders of other groups, the Soul Training has become a meaningful practice for many.

I’m glad to know that. Because I believe that following Jesus takes practice. What he asks of us takes some thought and intentional action on our part. So, like many important skills we develop in life, it is good to be surrounded by others who are intentionally putting Christ at the center of their lives. That, I believe, is what it means to be part of a community of faith.

So thank you for sharing this journey with me and with each other. You prove to me every day that I am blessed to be in this church, in these days.
