Sunday, October 28, was a marvelous Sunday!

In our worship service we made space to receive financial commitments to our mission and ministry in 2019 from those who were there. It is a sacred time in the life of a congregation to receive these because it says so clearly that we believe in God’s vision for us and we want to invest in making it come true.

Later that afternoon, we hosted our annual Trunk or Treat event. Under Jamie Turk’s direction, the event was a huge success! Our parking lot was lined with some 30-plus Trunks that included Little Red Riding Hood and the Woodsman, a group of Mad Scientists, Hippies, Charlie Brown’s Pumpkin Patch, some very colorful Trolls, and Marko The Magnifico! We estimate that over 200 children and almost as many adults enjoyed the hospitality of our St. Paul’s family! (See photos here or on our Facebook page.)

This coming Saturday, November 3, will be our Charge Conference at DeSoto UMC at 9:00 am. It will be another chance to celebrate our ministry together and to look forward to the coming year.

As I said last week, I give thanks for you as a congregation and for your faithfulness to be the people God is calling us to be. In fact, this Sunday we’ll begin a new sermon series that will explore God’s calling in our lives. Pastor David will return from Washington, DC where he has been meeting with others who are working diligently to help our denomination faithfully move into the future. I know you join me in thanking him sincerely for all he is doing, not only for St. Paul’s, but for the United Methodist Church as a whole to find a way into the future as God visions it.

May it be so.
