Frigid temperatures and a little snow didn’t dampen the excitement of Servant Sunday on February 11th. This unique service opportunity generated great momentum its inaugural year and several organizations returned for a second year, including the Community Blood Center, Hands of Love, Harvesters, Meals on Wheels, and Rise Against Hunger. New in 2018 were the Giving Brick, KC Pet Project, and Project Patricia.

The diverse projects had both local and international impact and provided a platform for all ages to pitch in and make a difference. In addition to last year’s Christmas offering being dedicated to Servant Sunday, the congregation generously supported the various projects by providing all the necessary items for the day, such as dog bones, peanut butter, sewing machines, and terry towels.

Each worship service included an anointing of hands as a special blessing for all those involved. In addition to putting our hands to good work, it was a time for conversation and fellowship. We worked side by side as we put our faith into action, resulting in a rewarding day of service. Like the many hands that were blessed on Servant Sunday, may the work we did bless countless others and remind of us our calling to serve throughout the year.
